lead singer of two of my favorite bands; the dead weather and the kills. i think alison mosshart has fantastic style. it’s not forced and just comes off as badass and very rock ‘n’ roll. she’s admitted before that she wears the same outfit while on tour, which i think makes fans like me be able to relate to her more. she doesn’t spend a ton of money on clothes that will eventually get dirty and sweaty. and not only does she have great style, she has endless amounts of talent.

i recently discovered jen brill and isabelle mcnally and i have to say i’m smitten with their style. i’ve added them both to my growing list of inspirations. they both posses this kind of downtown style, but in their own ways. i love that jen brill wears basic pieces and makes them glamorous and chic by adding statement pieces like purple pumps. isabelle mcnally has that style that screams “I didn’t think too much about this”, but it just works for her. on other people it would probably wouldn’t come off as good.

skins has become one of my favorite shows. it is better than a lot of other teen themed shows out there. unfortunately it is very hard to catch the series in the states.

i’ve watched all of series 3 and am now working on series 1 and 2, and i’ve got to say that effy is one of my favorite characters, especially her style and makeup.

zoe kravitz has fucking fantastic style. every time i see a picture of her i’m reassured she’s one of the most original dressers out there. and how could she not be? lenny kravitz and lisa bonet as parents kind of guarantees that you’ll be ultra cool, artistic and creative.

i’m well aware that about a year ago i started this blog and my first post “all good things are wild and free” was about trend followers and “copy cats”. i understand at one point we all most likely follow some sort of trend and no one, no matter what, can be 100% original. we’re all inspired by someone or something.

at the time i wrote that post i was really frustrated with a lot of things, one being what i thought was someone copying. i went a bit overboard. i just don’t care now.

shows how much you can change in a year, eh? if someone tried to change me or said i was copying them, i’d tell them to piss off.
wear what you like, listen to what you like, act how you like. don’t listen to what others say. it’s about you at the end of the day. do what makes you happy.

today is going to be a long day. already looking forward to nighttime starbucks.

i woke up today and found out 3 of my favorite bands had been nominated for grammys. kings of leon, mgmt, and silversun pickups. of course this isn’t the first time for the kings (if only people had payed attention to them for the other 3 albums), but i’m beyond happy that silversun pickups are finally being acknowledged for their beyond fantastic, genius music. keeping my fingers crossed that they win!!

my favorite songs of the three bands:

kings of leon – charmer, it’s not my party, cold desert, taper jean girl, 17

mgmt – love always remains, the handshake, kids, the youth

silversun pickups – kissing families, little lover’s so polite, three seed, pretty much anything they do i will love.
